Chromecast User Guide is a great book to pick up if you've just gotten a Chromecast streaming device, or if you simply want to be in the know on every level! Really impressive in terms of information, and delivered in a way that can be easily understood and put into practice right away.The mention of how the user is able to add an 'emoji' add-on to Chromecast device names in Mac OS X and Windows 8, is right along side restoring the Chromecast to its default settings. One is fun, the other is useful, but both are very helpful to users wishing to get full functionality and enjoyment out of the device.
Recently I wrote the book: Simple Guide to Over-the-Air Free TV, which explains to non-techy types how to cut the cord with cable or satellite TV, and supplement their programming with streaming media. In the book I mention using a Chromecast device, and in reading the Edwards' book I was pleased to learn new things specific to Chromecast that I will be applying to my own cord cutting lifestyle.

I like the author's approach and suggestions. I have not yet hooked up my Chromecast because I need another adapter. The instructions seem very clear and I appreciate the suggestions as well as information about other systems.
Liked the condensed formate.
Too simplistic really to help set the Chromecast up in a more sophisticated environment than home wifi. I found that the Cisco web pages on integrating Chromecast into a network to be much more helpful and free. I learned nothing from the book that I did not already know.
Logical and well written, but having read it I wondered if I needed it in the first place. Is that all there is?
I still have a couple of unanswered questions
1. If its capable of casting anything from my PC to TV why are people developing apps to do this for specific content, (like YouTube or Netflix for example)?
2. Also never discusses whether you can connect to a home theatre system rather than a TV.
I purchased a Chromecast 3 months ago so that I can watch YouTube videos on my TV. I love my Chromecast but honestly, besides YouTube, I didn't know anything else about it. This guide was perfect and provided me with an user friendly guide to all that my Chromecast had to offer. Now I love my Chromecast even more! )
I sure didn't. So I wasn't interested in buying one. But my partner insisted, so we did and then, well, the guide included with the Chromecast wasn't particularly helpful. Enter in the "Chromecast User Guide Newbie to Expert in 1 Hour!". I thought, well, how can I go wrong with a title like that? Because Newbie I was, and Expert I needed to be.
The absolute great thing about this wonderful book is that not only does it actually live up to the title, but there's also LOTS of helpful links scattered throughout so that you can actually go to the things that the authors write about! Talk about handy!
Also, the authors offer a free monthly newsletter to keep you in the loop about the latest info on the device. I love it!
I feel like, thanks to this book, I'm now an expert on getting the most out of my device. Many many thanks to the authors for doing all the legwork about Chromecast so I didn't have to.
Easy to use and when I did have problems casting using my account, gave me the answer to my problem and told me how to solve it. That was after spending 1/2 hour with a tech from Cromecast that didn't know the answer.
